This is probably the 'darkest' piece that I have yet done, due to the fact I was aiming for a different feeling from the piece. Its also the first real piece I've done that can't be classified as 'Minimalistic' (The Generator is classified as Technical, but can be called minimalistic).
I've just finished reading Dan Brown's Angels and Demons, which is where this idea came from, although I substansially elaborated on the basic facts the reader was given about Antimatter hovering in a container. I have used the sublime tutorial from for the antimatter droplet. The structure is from a render in Swift3D v4, and the rest is Photoshop, including little instances the some grunge brushpacks and fingerprints. The fingerprints are there both to suggest an incident in the piece and to give a sense of scale. I made this piece at a previously unheard of (for me, at least) resolution of 6400 x 4800, for maximum clarity, and the possibility of a print in the distant future.
Its really good work, the subject is not my tast really but then i dont know much of the story behind it . You play with the colors in a profssional way. The doplet is well rendered, just think the bottom part missfit a bit, especially in the connection to the lines below. maybe some of the burn tool in PS would help melting it backwards?
Well done!
i think you are trying to blend too many styles in this piece. i am a big fan of eclectic pieces, but to pull it off you have to first carefully consider the overall composition, and make a very deliberate placement of elements in order to create structure.
what we have here is styles layed on top of each other, styles that havent been sucessfully integrated. the grunge in the background is just sitting there, neglected and unappreciated, and therefore unneccessary.
the 'chain' needs work as well. may is suggest the metal tutorials available over at deaddreamer.com - that would help in terms of adding complimentary metal structures in PS.
the model itself is well made, but doesnt really evoke any feelings in me. i see it for what it is, and if its a form study, then thats great, but i should probably be making some associations and grasping some connotations.
i'd reconsider all your typography as well, as i dont feel it contributes anything positive to the piece.
it's all about composition. as you make more art, you'll get a more natural feel for it, but for the time being study is your friend. observe other art, and see why it works. look at stuff from all genres, because things that 'work' are universal.
Thanks for the in-depth comment Easily the most useful comment I've received
This, truth be told, is an experiment for myself. I'm having trouble deciding what genre of art to focus on - thats the explanation behind the variety in my gallery. As I put in the description of the piece, this is actually my first non-minimalistic wallpaper, and, I genuinely found it difficult to mesh together the elements in a coherent fashion. Thats the reason for the cluttered composition. This is a minimalistic piece hiding behind a facade of confusion essentially. I'm just starting to look into 3D work, and this was in essence built around the structure; not nescessarily the best way to do it.
I'm probably going to update this piece, having taken into account the points which you've raised, and looking at some of the metal tutorials around the place, which should hopefully improve the potential of the piece.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
